March 31, 2024 – EASTER SUNDAY
Matthew 28:1 – 10 Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. 2 And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. 4 And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men. 5 But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.” 8 So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9 And behold, Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.”
Fear is what holds you back from faith.
- 2 Timothy 1:7 That God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
- Matthew 16:24-26 Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?
Unless you die to yourself, you cannot live.
- Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.
It is not only death of self It is death of surroundings.
- Luke 9:23 If anyone would like to come after me, deny yourself and take up your cross and follow me.
- Matthew 7:13-14 Wide is the gate and easy is the way that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. But… the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few
Repentance brings Revival.
- 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 NASB Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win. Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. So they do it to obtain a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. Therefore I run in such a way as not to run aimlessly; I box in such a way, as to avoid hitting air; but I strictly discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.
If you do not kill your flesh, your flesh will kill you!
- Rom 6:1 – 5 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We died (past tense) to sin; how can we live (present tense) in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection.
- Romans 6:6 – 7 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin because anyone who has died has been freed from sin.
- Romans 6:11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
- Romans 6:14 For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.
